Sophia Tegart, flutist, has performed throughout the United States and Europe.  During the summer of 2010 she performed at the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Italy, premiering new works by festival composers.  A popular soloist, Ms. Tegart has performed concertos with the Spokane Symphony, the Washington-Idaho Symphony, the UMKC Conservatory Orchestra, and the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra, and, most recently, as piccolo soloist, with the Kansas City Civic Orchestra.  

Competitive internationally, Dr. Tegart was a finalist in the 2011 Mu Phi Epsilon International Competition, was quarter-finalist in the 2008 National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and the 2007 Ladies Musical Club of Seattle Competition, won Second Place in the 2003 MTNA Collegiate Artist Competition and, as flutist of the Washington State University Woodwind Sextet, Third Place in the 2003 MTNA Collegiate Chamber Music Competition. 

Dr. Tegart is an active chamber musician, and recently held the flute position in the Graduate Fellowship Quintet at the Conservatory of Music and Dance at University of Missouri-Kansas City where she completed her DMA in flute performance.  She performs regularly in the Squints Duo with clarinetist Gabrielle Baffoni, and has toured the Pacific Northwest with her flute and bassoon duo, Tartrazine.  She also regularly collaborated with pianist Kairy Koshoeva, and guitarist Beau Bledsoe in the Kansas City area.

Dr. Tegart has held positions in the Washington-Idaho Symphony, the Walla Walla Symphony, the Oregon Mozart Players, and most recently the Des Moines Metro Opera, She held the flute fellowship to the Atlantic Music Festival in the summer of 2011; has been guest principal flutist in the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra and Kansas City Civic Opera; has performed as substitute flutist with the Kansas City Symphony, Spokane Symphony, the Eugene Symphony, and the Northwest Bach Festival. 

Sophia recently relocated to Portland, OR where she teaches at George Fox University and maintains a private studio.
